General Information
Laia Marull is considered among the most remarkable newcomer actresses that Spain has exported in the last few years. She was born on the 4th of January 1973 in Catalonia, Barcelona. She studied acting and singing at the Estudio Nancy Tuñón in Barcelona, classic and modern dance at the Àrea School. She also took up flamenco at the Tani y Toleo Dancing School. She is fluent in Italian and French and speaks English relatively well. She has worked in movie film productions, theatre and television.
Awards
Although young, she is already a distinguished actress and has won many awards. She has won two (2) Goya Awards (Spanish Oscars). In 2001 she won for Best Newcomer Actress in the film “Fugitivas” and in 2004 for Best Leading Actress in the film “Take my eyes”.
Regarding the film “Fugitivas” she has also won the “Cartelera Turia” (Valencia) Award for Best Leading Actress. For “Take my eyes”, she has won – among others – the Actors’ Union of Madrid Award, the Sant Jordi Cinematography Award, the ADIRCE (Asociación de Directores Cinematográficos de España) Award, the CEC (Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos de España) Award and many more.
